ProMASS, Agartala: Nov 9, 2016: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar lashed out at Modi Govt’s decision of de-monetizing Rs 500 and Rs 1000 from Tuesday midnight. Speaking to media in Agartala today evening Chief Minister said, this is just a political gimmick. Criticizing Govt’s decision he added, this step has put common people in trouble.
Raising doubts he said, though the objective of this decision is to curb black money, fake currency, funding terrorist activities and corruption, the effectiveness of this decision is doubtful. He demanded action against people who have stashed money in foreign countries and bring back the monies.
Having said that the deciding of de-monetization is a historic one, President of Tripura BJP unit, Biplab Deb welcomed the decision and said 80% people of the country will be benefited. Demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 will help in curbing internally circulated black money, he stated.
Biplab Deb informed that process in bringing back money stashed in foreign countries is underway. Lauding the decision, he said, this will help to expand income tax net which in turn will increase tax revenue. Political parties who use black money will find it difficult now.
