Mar 09, 2017:Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said further investigations in a blast in the general compartment of the Bhopal-Ujjain Passenger train on 7th of this month, will be handed over to National Investigation Authority (NIA).
Making a statement in the Lok Sabha today, he said due to the coordinated and prompt action taken by the Police of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and central agencies, a possible threat to the national security was successfully averted. He said 10 passengers, who were injured in the blast and railway property was also damaged.
The Home Minister said initial inspection of scene of crime indicated that the accused had used an IED prepared by using locally available explosives for the blast. Mr Singh said Madhya Pradesh police coordinated with central agencies for investigation of the incident.
Mr Singh said in Lucknow, information was received about one Mohammed Saifullah alias Ali, resident of Kanpur, renting an accommodation in Haji colony, Police Station Kakori. The minister informed the Lok Sabha that ATS Uttar Pradesh laid a siege of the house and made vigorous attempts to arrest the suspect Saifullah and after 12 hours of efforts, the ATS team killed the suspected terrorist.
The Home Minister said eight pistols, 630 live cartridges and other material which included cash of 1.5 lakh rupees, about 45 grams of gold, three mobile phones, 4 sim cards, 2 wireless sets and some foreign currency was recovered from the room of the deceased. The minister also said when UP Police went to Saifullah’s house to hand over the body, his father refused to take it saying Saifullah acted against the nation. The Home minister said the country is proud of people like him.
