Mar,21, 2017: The budget session of Nagaland Legislative Assembly for the fiscal 2017 to 2018 will commence today and end on 30th of this month. The session assumes significance as this would be the first budget of the State under new Chief Minister Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu and also the last of the NPF-led DAN government’s three tenure since 2003, before the State General Election which is due for early next year. The Assembly session will also witness election of new Assembly Speaker as Chotisuh Sazo, who was the Speaker has been inducted as a cabinet minister for Public Health Engineering in Liezietsu’s ministry. Assembly sources said the actual sitting of the House is for 5-days only while the session will commence in a short while from now with the Governor’s address followed by motion of thanks to the address and obituary reference.
Tomorrow being Wednesday is recess, while question hour and other business of the House including laying of Annual Administrative reports of the Government Departments for 2016-17, Government Rules and Regulations, and passing of any Government Bills would be done from 23rd of this month. Sources also revealed that the Assembly will have break from 25th to 27th while the new Chief Minister Dr Liezietsu, who also holds the Finance portfolio would present the Budget 2017-18 on 28th of this month and passing of the budget would be done on the last day, as 29th is Wednesday would be recess. Report of Comptroller and Auditor General of India for the year ending 31st March 2016 would also be presented during this session. (Air News)
