Bandh on Sept 21 in Tripura called to show people’s anger: Cong

Tripura Pradesh Congress leaders have urged people to make State-wide 12-hour strike on September 21 successful. However, the State Government is strongly opposing the bandh at this crucial phase and served a memorandum to Government employees to remain present in their usual duties.

Speaking to media, Congress leaders Birjit Sinha, Subal Bhowmik and other leaders slammed the Government on multiple issues including alleged failure in tackling Covid19 situation in the State.

Congress leaders said that the Bandh was called against Government’s Covid19 mismanagement, attack on media persons and supporters of opposition parties, Government apathy towards plight of common people.  

Birjit Sinha pointed out that decision to call a strike was taken considering the interests of wider spectrum of people including Corona affected people, media persons and 10323 ad hoc teachers as well as working classes. “This is not just a Political strike, but a strike supporting voices of people. The dawn-to-dusk Bandh on September 21 will be a way to vent public anger against the incumbent BJP-IPFT alliance in Tripura”, Sinha said.

Training guns at the saffron party, Congress leader Subal Bhowmik said, Covid19 situation gas turned into a major concern due to inexperience of the Chief Minister. Justifying his claims, Bhowmik said, initially Covid19 situation did not look grim – however, situation started fast changing after the Government introduced 1:5 testing formula for incoming passengers. Ultimately, this loophole led to present serious condition. Shortage of adequate medical personnel has added woes and the State Government has failed to control the transmission of coronavirus among the masses.

Listing out several other ‘failures’ of the Government, Bhowmik urged the people to whole heathtedly support the Bandh on Sept 21 next.

Meanwhile, State Government has served a memorandum saying “it is imperative that all the Government offices, Government undertakings and Organizations under the Government should function normally on the day of the Bandh and also all the Government employees, employees of Government undertakings and Organizations should perform their duties as usual on that day”.

The memorandum further added, ‘any violation of the above instructions by the Government employees, employees of Government undertakings and Organizations will be viewed seriously.

All the Government organizations and Undertakings have been asked to send ‘Attendance Report’ to the General Administration Department by 12.00 on September 21. Police administration has been asked to make Law and order arrangement on the day of strike.
