Beating Corona, around 100 covid19 positive women deliver healthy babies in Tripura

Even as Coronavirus has created panic across the State, healthcare personnel, once again, scripted success in saving life of pregnant Covid positive woman and helped her to give birth of a healthy baby. A Covid19 positive woman of a jhumia family of a remote village arrived at Teliamura Sub-divisional Hospital and gave birth to a healthy baby today. Credit for successful delivery goes to a doctor and two nurses of the Hospital.

Sources said that the pregnant indigenous woman of remote area of Mungiakami admitted at the Hospital. She tested Corona positive few days ago. Meanwhile the woman felt labour pain in the afternoon today. Immediately her family members shifted her to Mungiakami PHC. Observing her serious condition the doctors of the PHC promptly referred her to Taliamura Subdivision Hospital.

After arriving at the subdivision Hospital Dr. Anirban Bhowmik found that the woman was in critical condition and decided to conduct operation immediately at the Hospital.

“The Doctor was well aware that the woman was a Covid positive patient – however, displaying commitment to his duties, he did not hesitate to operate upon the woman and he got necessary support from nurses.

Wearing PPE kit Dr. Bhowmik and 2 nurses Nibedita Deb and Kalpana Debnath took her to delivery room. Later the woman gave birth of a healthy child. At present the mother and child are quite well.

Local sources said, courage and commitment of Dr Bhowmik and two nurses have installed renewed faith on State health department. “As the report of successful delivery of Covid19 positive spread, confidence among the people at Teliamura has got a huge boost”, one small-scale trader of Teliamura said.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said, as many as 112 Corona-infected women including expecting mothers underwent gynaecology related treatment and many of them successfully gave birth to babies. In case of expecting mothers, most of the delivery cases were reported to be normal while few others underwent major surgeries. Out of the 112 patient, total 110 infected women have recovered.
