Covid-19: Tripura Govt to observe Mask Enforcement Day on Sep 18, 19

In an attempt to rein in the spread of Covid19 in Tripura, the State Government has decided to conduct special drive on wearing masks and observe ‘Mask Enforcement Day’ on September 18 and 19 next. Tripura Education minister Ratanlal Nath told the Media in Agartala on Wednesday.

During these two days, apart from raising awareness on wearing masks or face covers among the people through various media, organizations, communities, the District Administration and Police Administration will enforce the provisions of 'The Tripura Epidemic Disease, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020' intensively and penalties will tie imposed against the violators of the provisions of the Regulations along with other actions as per law.

Adequate numbers of joint flying squads will be formed by the district administration that will move extensively for the enforcement. The fines imposed on these two days will be reported at the end of day to Home Department for information to authorities.

Meanwhile, as many as 10,560 persons have been arrested in the state for violating lockdown and curfew during the period from March 24 to September 14.

Besides, 526 vehicles have been detained and fined money of Rs. 2,57,45,455 have been collected.

On the other hand, a good number of people have been fined for not wearing mask/ face covers during the period from June 29 to September 15—fine money of Rs. 18,86,800 have been collected, he said.

In the meantime, the Health department, District Administration and Police Administration have been taking various measures to make the people aware of need to wearing mask or face cover.

A large number of people throughout the State have been fined by the District Administration and Police Administration for not wearing masks or face cover so far.  

Despite administrative efforts, it has been found that there is laxity among common public in wearing mask or wearing it properly.
