On Natl Sc Day, Tripura gets country’s 22nd Science Centre

On the day of National Science Day on February 28, a new feather added to development of Tripura as the 22nd Science Centre of the country started its journey at Udaipur in Tripura today.

 

The newly-built Science centre at East Gokulpur in Udaipur sub-division was on Sunday formally inaugurated by Governor Ramesh Bais. The Science Centre has been built in 1840 square meter area at an expense of Rs 6 crore.

 

Notably, National Science Day is observed across the country every year on February 28 as ‘Raman Effect’ Day. On this Day, Indian scientist CV Raman published his discovery known as Raman Effect for which he got the Noble Prize in 1930.

 

National-Science-Day-TripuraThe 22nd Science Centre of the country opened on such a special moment and it is a great moment for people of Tripura, speakers reiterated in tune of the Governor.

 

Among others, Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Prahlad Singh Patel, Tripura MP Pratima Bhowmik, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma and State Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy were present in the inauguration programme.

 

In his inaugural speech, the Governor said opening of the Science Centre on the day of National Science Day is a proud moment for Tripura. The Centre will play a crucial role in fostering scientific mindset among people, especially among the students. 

 

Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Prahlad Singh Patel said the new Science Centre would encourage the students in science study as the Centre would enable them to learn many unknown things about science. He also pointed out that we had to be accustomed with the progress of science.

 

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma, Tourism minister Pranajit Singha Roy, MP Pratima Bhowmik and distinguished persons also hailed the moment and commented that the Centre would usher a new dawn. The dignitaries visited the Science Centre at the end of the programme.

 

The Science Centre has been set up by the National Council of Science Museums under the Union Ministry of Culture.

 

Meanwhile, before joining the inaugural ceremony, the Union Minister visited Tripura Sundari Temple in traditional attire. He was accompanied by the Governor and the Tourism minister along with others.
