Routine Iron tab intake: 5 students fall ill

Five students of Tarakpur High Secondary School of Kadamtala block in Tripura fell ill after they were being administered Iron tablets as part of the routine health care initiative. Authority rushed them to Kadamtala Community Health Center.

 

All of the five students are undergoing treatment while two students are yet to regain consciousness. The incident sparked tension among the guardians and students.Sources said, proper initiatives have been taken to ensure speedy recovery of the students.

 

School authority said, “Students were administered Iron tablets as per routine practice. Every year, they take Iron Tablet. Sometimes students fall ill as they take the tablet on an empty stomach. Some students do not share their physical issues with health workers before taking the tablet”.

 

As the report spread, the Inspector of Schools (IS) and Kadamtala Panchayat Samiti Chairman reached the spot.
