Statue of Maharaja Radhakishore Manikya to be installed at Ujjayanta Palace entrance

A statue of Maharaja Radhakishore Manikya will be installed at the entrance of Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb instructed the Urban Development department to this end while chairing a review meeting in Civil Secretariat in Agartala today.

As it appears, the state government has been working for an overall growth with a space for recognition of the contributions made by the Maharajas.

After assuming power, the BJP-IPFT government first installed a statue of Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya in front of the airport and then played an active role in renaming the airport after the Maharaja. As a result, the Agartala airport was renamed as Maharaja Bir Bikram airport.

Maharaja Radhakishore ManikyaBesides, chairing the review meeting, the Chief Minister has also instructed the officials concerned to complete the works under Smart City Mission within the stipulated time as well as to complete the tendering process for all such works by July.

The Chief Minister had a detailed review on the progress of various schemes- Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (Urban), Swachcha Bharat Mission, AMRUT, Deen Dayal Antodaya Yojana- National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) and Smart City Mission.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister has directed the Urban Development department to work on mission mode to achieve government’s goal—housing to all (urban areas) by 2022. He also asked to ensure that the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana are reaching actual beneficiaries.

In the meantime, the works for three township projects in three different areas consisting 1000 flats would start very soon.

Under Light House project at Golchakkar in Agartala, 1000 flats would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 162 crore.

Besides, the state government has planned to set up an IT Park, a Child Care Hospital and an Eye Hospital apart from constructing 400 flats on 6 acre land in the premises of old jail in the city. The Chief Minister asked the officials to ensure quality works in a time bound manner.

Secretary of the Urban Development said, infrastructural development activities have started in seven district headquarters area and Asian Development Bank had sanction Rs 1650 crore for this purpose.
