Stress on improving health services: Tripura Govt working with multi-faceted plans

Tripura-NHM-CHC-Dr-Manik-SahaA new medical college will come up at Ambassa in Dhalai district and the site for the proposed medical college has already been identified, said Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha after inaugurating the new building of Nutanbazar Community Health Centre (CHC) under Gomati district in Tripura on Wednesday.

 

The 30-bed Natunbazar CHC was built at Rs 5 crore 2 lakh using the fund of the NHM.  

 

In an attempt to ensure improved health care delivery, Tripura Government is relentlessly working to augment the health infrastructure including man-power.

 

Commenting on government’s initiatives, Dr Saha said apart from implementing several Central and State health schemes benefitting large number of rural people including infants and pregnant women, the Government is also working to address man-power issues.

 

For this purpose, retirement age of the doctors increased to 65 years from 60 years as well as number seats in medical studies has also been increased.  Also, number of seats in nursing courses has also increased.

 

He pointed out that Tripura achieved success on several health parameters due to the thrust of the government in improving healthcare delivery services.

 

enewstime-Tripura-NHM-CHC-Dr-Manik-SahaAccording to Dr. Saha, the infant mortality rate has come down from 27 percent in 2015 to 21 percent now. He also said, the infrastructure in health facilities at the primary level is being developed.

 

Oncosurgery is now available at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Centre and around 201 oncosurgeries have so far been conducted in the cancer hospital, he said.

 

He also highlighted Tripura’s achievement in the fight against Covid and tuberculosis.  

 

He appealed to the people for proper maintenance of the health facility and keeping it clean.

 

In today’s inaugural programme, the Chief Minister felicitated four students- Ankita Debnath, Gopa Rani Tripura, Swarnadip Saha and Karna Acharjee along with head master Sumangal Chakma of Nutanbazar Higher Secondary School for their special contribution in Covid vaccination drive. The Chief Minister also participated in a tree plantation drive.

 

As part of his visit, the Chief Minister inspected the infrastructure at Nutanbazar School and interacted with the students.

 

Earlier, he took part in a beneficiary assistance programme at 5th-Bn TSR camp in Paschim Doluma where he handed over national Flags to some of the students as part of har Ghar Tiranga campaign. Dr Saha also visited nearby Anganwadi Center.
