Tree planting crucial to achieve PM's vision of making India Carbon-free by 2070

Tripura-Van-MahotsavIn line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a Carbon-free nation by 2070, Tripura Government has accorded importance on tree sapling planting across the State.

 

As part of the continuous effort of the initiative, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha took part in a Vanmahotsav program organized by Arundhatinagar Higher Secondary School in Agartala on Thursday (Aug 4).

 

“Trees are our friends. Trees are being planted throughout the year as a part of Vanmahotsav program with the initiative of the state government. They play vital role in maintaining balance in the environment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized upon building India as a Carbon-free country by 2070. To make this dream successful, everyone must plant trees”, Dr Saha said.

 

The Chief Minister also said, planting trees is a social program. Planting trees is highly important to live in a healthy environment. We all are dependent on trees to survive. The balance in the environment depends upon trees and plants. Nowadays, almost everyone is planting trees in social events and to celebrate birthdays.

 

The Chief Minister said, we will be able to live healthily until there are trees and forests. He called on everyone to come forward to plant trees. He also called on school teachers to encourage students to plant trees.

 

Others present in the program were Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar, Corporator of the Municipal Corporation Alok Roy, Sadar SDM Asim Saha, Headmistress of the School Sima Rani Sarkar, social worker Ashok Saha, Sanjoy Saha and Pradip Kumar Das. The Chief Minister was presented with a souvenir on behalf of the School.

 

The program was then followed by dance performances by the school students. Later, the Chief Minister and other guests planted trees on the school premises.
