Tripura: AMC announces Durga puja bonanza for casual, contractual staffs

Wages of casual workers and salaries of contractual staffs have been hiked while the incentive of women engaged in garbage collection has also been increased. As expected, the decision brought smile among the beneficiaries.  

 

Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) hiked the wages of casual workers and contractual employees ahead of Durga Puja festival, Mayor Dipak Majumder said on Tuesday.

 

Addressing a press conference, the Mayor said, there are total 2163 casual workers including cleaning staff and drivers, who have been working with AMC for a long time.

 

enewstime-AMC-Durga-Puja-TripuraThey are getting Rs. 248 per day and now, the AMC increased the wages by Rs. 52 per day; they would now get Rs. 300 per day, the Mayor said.

 

Besides, the AMC also approved an increase of Rs. 500 per month in the incentive of 417 women staff, who are engaged in collecting garbage from door-to-door, he said.

 

The AMC also hiked the salary of 39 contractual employees by Rs. 3000 per month.

 

“An additional amount of Rs. 4,29,93,307 would be required to implement the decisions. The expenditure would be borne from the AMC’s own revenue,” the Mayor said.

 

He said, the AMC took various initiatives for smooth conduct of Durga Puja and already conducted council and MIC meetings for pre-puja preparations. He also spoke on the other arrangements made by the AMC for the convenience of people during the Durga Puja festival.

 

Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta and AMC Commissioner Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav were present in the press conference held at AMC conference hall.
