Tripura government is trying its best to develop the indigenous people dominated areas of the state and no possible avenues have been left unexplored to reach the most underprivileged regions of the state with the flow of development, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said on Thursday.

The Chief Minister while addressing the financial assistance distribution programme among the surrendered overground militants, also said, he hoped that the surrendered militants who had left the way of guns and bloodshed to rejoin the mainstream life would also help the government materialize its dream of development.
Deb, said, “this is for the first time Rs 57 crore will be spent exclusively for the ADC areas from the grants of fifteenth finance commission. A medical college will come at Dhalai district’s Ambassa. And, attempts are also afoot to develop the Dhalai district as an aspirational district”. Deb also said that the number of constituencies were also being increased in the TTAADC areas.

Tripura-CM-Biplab-Kumar-DebHe said, “the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has offered Tripura, in fact, the entire North East region a new identity. The decision of Tipraland Territorial Council has been passed in the state assembly and it has been forwarded to the central government.

The bamboo which is one of the main crops of the North eastern region and Tripura is getting a new identity all over. Bamboo shoot made biscuits and bamboo honey bottles have received massive response in the national market”.

During the programme, altogether 136 persons received a financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each among which 88 persons were directly involved in militancy.

DGP in-charge Tripura Rajiv Singh in this regard said that all the surrendered militants were being trained so that they could ensure a job for themselves. Due to Covid 19 pandemic, the training process did not end yet, but it would soon end.

“The Tripura government wants that more and more people join in the main course of life. The state thrives for overall development and peace prevails all over the state. In this regard, an agreement was signed at New Delhi on August 10, 2019 last. As per the peace agreement, the rebels were welcomed by the government in presence of the Chief Minister at a programme at Ambassa on August 13. Militants laid down their arms and ammunition and joined the mainstream life.

Moreover, as part of the agreement the surrendered rebels were being trained here in a camp. They were being trained in tailoring, automobile and all so that they could ensure a living in the future. Due to Covid 19, the training was yet to be completed”, said the acting DGP.
