Once again, the Council of Tiprasa Hoda pitched hard against the Chakma intrusion in Tripura issue. The Council members sought immediate intervention of the Central and State Government for stopping illegal entry of Chakma people from Bangladesh.
Addressing a press meet in Agartala on Wednesday, Convenor of Council of Tiprasa Hoda, Birendra Tripura alleged, a section Chakma intellectuals, top-level Government employees belonging to Chakma community and armed Chakma groups are encouraging Bangladeshi Chakma people to illegally enter into Tripura and settle down here.
“Chakma people from Bangladesh intruded and are settling at Bankumari under Chaumanu as well as Narkelkunj, Twichakma, Thakurchhara and Naikachhara under Gandachhera sub-division”, Birendra Tripura claimed.
Sounding an alarm, he referred to recent recovery of arms (3 Italian-made pistols) from one Joymani Chakma. The convener of the Council claimed, Joymani Chakma possesses dual citizenship cards of India and Bangladesh. He also alleged, several other illegal arms dealers namely, Dhalmani Chakma, Raju Chakma etc. are still remaining in the area.
Birendra Tripura, while referring to problems of illegal Chakma intrusion, also mentioned the killing of Nagurai Reang of Pancharatan village under Gandachhara. He said, after interrogation it was found that Pranoy Chakma and Ushadhan Chakma were involved. Two more accused persons are yet to be arrested. He demanded stern punitive action against the culprits as well as one time financial help to family members of the deceased person.
Citing the arms seizure and killing of Nagurai Reang, Council of Tiprasa Hoda demanded introduction of NRC in Tripura to stop illegal intrusion.
The Convener lamented that the Council had already wrote to the Union Home Minister, secretary of Home Ministry, Joint secretary of Northeastern region, Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, LS member of East Lok Sabha constituency, Opposition leader of the State, Chief Secretary, DMs of Gomati and Dhalai as well as Ems of TTAADC informing them about the problem of Chakma intrusion. Birendra Chakma urged the concerned authorities to intervene and stop the Chakma intrusion – if the authorities fail to act effectively, the situation may spin out of hand, he warned.
