Vax Jab Day: Shot in arms against Corona begins in Tripura

Like other parts of the country, it was the Vax Jab Day for Tripura also. After the Prime Minister formally inaugurated the largest ever Vaccination drive in the country, vaccination started in 17 session sites in Tripura today.  In the first phase, a total of 56,500 Covidshield vaccines arrived in Tripura on January 13 last.  

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb inaugurated the drive in the State and he interacted with doctors present in different session sites. During his interaction, Deb inquired about arrangements made in the session sites ensuring safe and smooth rolling out the Vaccination drive.

Deb also reminded the health officials to stress on the fact that each and every vaccine recipient must receive the second dose of the vaccine. He also pointed out that every vaccine recipient should be kept in observation for at least 30 minutes.

State officials said, Vaccination drive launched in 17 session sites across the State today in which around 100 beneficiaries in every sites would get the Vax Jab.

Covid-Vaccine-Vax-Day-TripuraOfficials added that number of the session sites would be increased to 152 from Monday (January 18 next) and that Vaccinations in all the designated session sites would be administered 4 days a week – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister lauded the grit, perseverance and co-operation with the Government in overcoming Covid19 pandemic. Terming the day as ‘historic’, Deb recalled the day – April 6 last when the first Covid19 positive case was detected and mentioned the long struggle of people during those days.

“We were clueless as to how to get out of those gloomy. However the Prime Minister has shown us the way - our scientists had manufactured vaccines in India strengthening the PM’s call for Vocal for Local. We are the eyewitnesses of this historic day which upholds India’s bid for Atma Nirbhar Bharat”, he commented and added that administration had made all the necessary initiatives for safe vaccination.

Deb also said, Corona Pandemic has taught us many a thing and has made us self-reliant in terms of availability of masks, PPE kits, ventilators and different sorts of medicines.

“The most striking and interesting thing is that overall death rate in Tripura has dropped – and this happened people had become alert about health conditions of elders of the families. We have realized importance of giving attention to our elders and give them proper medicines timely – we are no longer ignoring their health conditions”, Deb asserted.

He also said, Corona has thrown opportunities for the Government to come out with several schemes ensuring Swanirbhar Tripura. Common people also learned to explore possibilities and grab those through multiple activities. He exhorted people to keep up the momentum and work harder for betterment of the State.

He asserted that economy of the State has shown a strong resilience during and post-covid situation.
