Local people brought the injured five persons to Manu Health Centre and the attending doctor declared Mihir Das as dead. Two injured persons – Gopal Banik and Sujit Banik – among the four wounded persons were referred to Dhalai District Hospital.

The attack and killing of the Yuva Morcha local leader sparked panic and tension in the entire Manughat area. Sensing trouble police administration deployed a large posse of the Police personnel and TSR Jawans in the area.

Meantime, Police led by the SDPO started an investigation immediately and conducted raids at several residents of suspected killers.

Police sources said suspected killers were not found in their residence – however, police would continue to search for the culprits and arrested them soon.

Local people suspected that inner party conflicts could be the motive behind killing of the Yuva Morcha leader – and the houses where Police conducted raids were reported to belong to members of deceased leader’s rivals. However, neither the Police nor the Yuva Morcha made any specific comment to this end, so far.
