NLFT (PD) chief Parimal Debbarma has been brought to Tripura on Monday.
After Mizoram Court granted the Transit remand for the militant, he was handed over to a police team of Kanchanpur police station. According to police sources, Debbarma would be subjected to a Covid 19 test since he had been brought from another state and in the aftermath due procedure would be produced before the Court with an appeal of police remand.
“Debbarma was leading a NLFT group, a parted faction of the NLFT Biswa Mohan group. The group became active in the year 2017 after a few years it surrendered before police in the year 2017” , a highly placed source in the police department said. A number of subscription notices and ransom notes were recovered from his possession.

“This group was taking keen interest in the TTAADC polls and it was trying to create some disturbances in select areas for supporting certain political parties. His arrest came as a great success for the police ahead of the crucial district council elections”, added the police.
On March 11, the Tripura police’s Special Branch received a tip off pertaining to his presence in the Mizoram capital Aizawl and later he was nabbed there with the help of Mizoram police.
