Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb inaugurated the State-level PM-Kishan scheme at Rabindra Bhavan in Agartala today. In his inaugural speech, Deb highlighted pro-farmers initiatives of Modi-led Government and reiterated that State Government would implement those initiatives.
“It is a historic day as the Prime Minister launched the PM-Kishan for welfare of Farming community of the country. Farmers are backbone of country’s economy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is doing everything possible to solve the problems that farmers are facing”, Biplab Kumar Deb said. Taking a jibe at the previous Left Front government, the Chief Minister said, farmers were forced to do ‘something else’ instead of farming during LF regime. Farmers had to attend political rallies, street corners etc. and people associated with farming little time for farming.
But, the new government has a different mindset as the Government focuses Agriculture and Farmers’ welfare as priority sector.
Hailing PM-Kishan scheme, Deb said, this scheme will be beneficial for the small scale farmers of the state. The farmers with small firm-land, will be provided with an annual pension of Rupees 6,000 in three quarterly premiums.
Recently, the Chief Minister added, the first installment has been deposited in the bank accounts of all the beneficiaries. Altogether, Rupees 12 Crore has been given to the state farmers. More than 67,000 families were benefitted through the scheme, he added. Moreover, eight farmers from each of the districts were felicitated with monetary aide for excellence in paddy cultivation.
