Agartala, February 24, 2019: Deaths from obesity and non-communicable diseases are on the rise across the globe – and it is utmost important to combat the threat. The State Government committed to fight against such diseases and generate public awareness to build a ‘Healthy Tripura’. Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman said this at a Mega Health Camp in Amarpur. Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura, Gram Panchayats of Birganj and Mailak and Gomati District Press club jointly organized the Health camp at Bankaray Para Senior Basic school.
Visiting the mega health camp, Sudip Roy Barman saluted the serene beauty of motherhood and mother-baby relation. Referring to a poem of Sukanta Bhattacharjee, he reiterated his commitment of making the life of a baby secured and healthy. Talking about his interaction with a young mother who was standing in a queue with her baby in her lap, the Health Minister said, “It is a heart touching scene that a young mother is waiting in a long queue to get medical tips for well-beings of her baby. The awareness for baby’s health is exemplary and I hope that every mother became conscious and ensure healthy life for the baby”.
In his speech, Roy Barman attempted to draw public attention on threats of obesity and other non-communicable diseases like cardio problems. He said, “People would die from communicable diseases earlier – however, situation has changed now and increasing numbers of people are getting affected from non-communicable ailments and are dying”.
Detailing about present health worries of people, the Minister said, State Government is committed to combat non-communicable diseases and allow people live a healthy life. In addition to this, State Government is determined to take health care services available and affordable to all to make the State a ‘Healthy Tripura’.
