Tripura Govt ready to tackle Covid19; No plan for lockdown at present, Interviews for Gr C,D as scheduled

As the Covid situation in Tripura is far better than other States, Tripura Government is not contemplating imposing lockdown or night curfew at present. Education Minister of Tripura Ratan Lal Nath this in Agartala on Saturday. He also said, interviews for Group C and D category jobs would be held as scheduled considering present situation.

Nath said, “At present Government is not planning to impose lockdown or night curfew. If all of us remain alert and cautious, there will be no necessity of imposing lockdown or night curfew. Crowding in markets should be avoided and this is the responsibility of everyone, not just the Government”.

 

“United efforts of people and Government in following Covid appropriate behavior would enable us in avoiding imposition of lockdown. It is a collective responsibilty to adher to Covid protocols and stay safe”, he said and added that every one must wear mask, will not venture out unless required and maintain physical distancing to Covid19 at bay.

Nath also said, interviews for the post of Group C and D categories would be held as scheduled with strict adherence to Covid19 protocols. Candidates must wear a mask during in exams.    

Detailing about Government’s initiative to combat recent Covid surge across the country, the Minister said, the state government has already put all preparations in place to deal with any eventuality following the fresh outbreak of COVID19.

 

He said, principal secretary to Health- J.K. Sinha would monitor the COVID19 situation on a daily basis while joint secretary Vishal Kumar has been appointed as nodal officer for maintaining communication with the central government.

 

Meanwhile, the core committee of COVID19 management held an importing meeting at secretariat on Friday and reviewed the latest situation.

 

Principal secretary to Health J.K. Sinha chaired the meeting. He discussed various issues as well as passed necessary instructions to the officials concerned for proper management of the situation. The health officials were present in the meeting.

 

Addressing the press conference, Nath said there are 509 beds for COVID19 infected patients and arrangements for more 2,100 beds have been made to manage the situation.

 

He said 7.72 lakh people have already been administered the first dose of COVID19 vaccine—the achievement for vaccination of healthcare staff and frontline warriors is more than 93 percent. Total 1,145 vaccination centres are functioning across the state with engagement of 1430 health staff, he said.

 

Speaking on the latest COVID19 status, Nath said there are 383 active cases in the state at present—336 infected persons are under home isolation and 47 patients are undergoing treatment at various facility centres. He also said the positivity rate till Saturday was 1.97 percent.
