January 23, 2018: The Convener of Tripura Left Front, Bijan Dhar today announced candidate list for ensuing Tripura Assembly Election. After sudden demise of Khagen Das – Convener of Left Front – on January 21 in Kolkata, Bijan Dhar – the State Secretary of CPIM Tripura Unit – assumed the charge of LF Convener and came out with candidate list in Agartala today.
“The number contesting woman candidates increased from five in last Assembly polls to seven. Including 10 new faces, LF has fielded total 12 new candidates for ensuing polls”, Bijan Dhar said. Five sitting MLAs were dropped – mostly for health reasons, Dhar added.
“In total CPIM will contest in 57 constituencies while LF partners – CPI, RSP and Forward Bloc will contest in one each seat”, Dhar said.
He also said, out of five drop out MLAs, Arun Kumar Chakma has been dropped out as he would have to carry out organizational responsibilities. Other four MLAs were rested due to health related issues.
