Nagaland Governor PB Acharya has directed Chief Minister TR Zeliang and Education Minister Yitachu to initiate thorough probe into the reported scams in education department. A press note from the OSD to the Governor yesterday said that Acharya has written to the Chief Minister and Education Minister asking them to take corrective measures immediately on the failure and scams in the department. Acharya said that the government will not tolerate any scam and corruption and would initiate stringent action as per the provisions of the law against the culprits irrespective of their position and rank. The governor also took note of various reported scams in education department which include- Hindi teachers salary, appointment of teachers in Peren district and their absence, contractors locking school building due to non-payment of pending bills, proxy teachers in the remote village schools and misuse of funds under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
