ProMASS News Bureau: Aug 24, 2016: Tremors were felt in Tripura and other Northeastern States including Bihar, West Bengal,Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday at around 4.o4PM . According to National Centre for Seismology, a unit of Ministry of Earth Sciences, the epicenter of the quake was in Myanmar and it occurred at a depth of 58 kms measuring 6.8 in Richter Scale. At least one person has been killed while pagodas were damaged in the ancient city of Bagan, Myanmar. The quake was also felt across neighbouring Thailand and Bangladesh.
Also, a mild tremor hit Northern States including Tripura today morning. However, there is no report of any damage, injury or death in both the cases. Notably, Northeast Region is one of the most earthquake prone regions in the world.
