ProMASS News Bureau: Aug 31, 2016: Another batch of around 300 CRPF jawans has left Tripura for J&K on Aug 30, 2016. Earlier, Union Ministry of Home Affairs withdrew around 300 CRPF jawans from Tripura few weeks ago. Sources claimed more companies of 71 battalion CRPF jawans will be withdrawn from the State. Notably, jawans of 71 Battalion are entrusted with providing security along NH44. On withdrawal of 71 Battalion Jawans, experts stated, this will put security along NH44 in hill areas at peril.

A trip along NH44 through Baromurh Hill range reveal that RoP in NH44 has been seriously affected due to twin reasons. Firstly due to sudden withdrawal of CRPF jawans in huge numbers and 2ndly, using CRPF jawans in patrolling Agartala after 23 Aug incidences. Expressing deep concern, a State administration official stated, reduction in strength of CRPF drastically will weaken security arrangements remarkably along the NH 44 in the State. Local people residing along NH44 too echoed deep concern and stated, security in NH44 at Mungiyakami and Atatharomurh is under question after reduction of strength of 71 battalion of CRPF.
