Feb 09, 2017: Replying on Genneral Budget in Parliament today, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley applauded strong fundamentals of the Indian Economy. He said, fiscal deficit situation in the country is much better than what it was during the UPA regime. Wrapping up the first part of Budget Session of Parliament today, Mr Jaitley said, the NDA came to power in 2014, the fiscal deficit was 4.6 per cent, and it came down to 3.2 per cent during the present government. He expressed hope that next year deficit will be at the level of 3 per cent.
The first part of Budget session of Parliament ended on Thursday. Although the session was brief but Productive Finance Minister Arun Jaitley replied in Lok Sabha on the general budget applauded Indian economy’s strong fundamentals while Govt. hits out at opposition for remarks on PM; In Lok Sabha , 113 percent business was transacted in Lok Sabha, while 97 percent in Rajya Sabha.
Parliament today witnessed repeated adjournments of both houses as Congress members protested against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks about Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Despite some disruptions, two important bills were also tabled in Parliament and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad introduced The Repealing and Amending Bill, 2017. Govt has till now has scrapped 1175 old and irrelevant laws and this bill will enable scrapping of at least 105 more.
