Apr 07, 2017: The Women wing of BJP, Mahila Morcha today organized ‘March to Secretariat’ in Agartala condemning ‘increasing’ incidences of crimes and violence on women in the State. Around 8000 women supporters of 14 Mandals attended the ‘March to Secretariat’ cum protest rally, sources said. Among others, All India President of Mahila Morcha Bijaya Rahatkar was also present.
Addressing the gathering, Rahatkar alleged, Tripura occupies the top most position relating to crimes against women – rape and murder after rape. She said, Leftist Government has failed to ensure women’s safety. Police is also neglecting in discharging their duties due to political intervention and is patronizing ruling party for vested interests. Highlighting failures of the Left Front Government, she alleged, rate of conviction is much lower in Tripura.
State Observer of Mahila Morcha Pratima Bhowmik termed today’s ‘March to Secretariat’ as Ganaakrosh Rally. Referring to rape and murder of a minor girl of Padmabil in Dharmanagar, she said, Mahila Morcha is daily organizing protest rally condemning the crime and demanded stern action against the accused – Rajat Tanti.
Speaking on the occasion, State BJP President Biplab Deb said, the ruling party will be ousted in forthcoming Assembly Polls and BJP will form the Government in Tripura. He said, rule of law will be established in the State only if BJP is voted to power and security of women in the society will be ensured, he commented.
