June 23, 2017: State Health Minister Badal Chowdhury today refuted claim made by the Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma that Tripura Government rejected Central offer. The statement made by Assam Finace Minister was ‘unfortunate’, Chowdhury said in Agartala.
Earlier Himanta Biswa Sharma distributed copies of a letter to the media persons and stated that MoS for Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry Ms Anupriya Patel wrote a letter to the State Government on June 19 requesting to schedule ‘foundation stone laying’ of Rs 150 crore super specialty hospital on June 27. Sharma stated, the State Government refused the central proposal.
Badal Chowdhury stated that State Government had not agreed upon organizing a foundation stone laying ceremony, however, not rejected Central Projects. He stated, the project of worth Rs 150 crore for Super specialty Hospital (actually Rs 140 crore out of Central Government’s share is Rs 120 crore and Rs 20 will be arranged by the State Government) was sanctioned by the Union Minister for Mohfw J P Nadda much earlier and was welcomed by the State Government, he said. “One NCC has been entrusted with the construction job”, he said.
“The catch point in Sharma’s statement is ‘offer’. He said the State Government had rejected Center’s offer while talking about foundation stone laying ceremony. Even though apparently it appeared that State Government had rejected center’s proposal to setup super specialty Hospital, Sharma categorically did not say this”, opined a veteran political analyst of Agartala.
