A head-on collision between a Bolero pickup vehicle and a Maruti Alto car in Bishramganj area in Tripura left four people injured, including one in critical condition. The accident occurred at Dewan Bazar brick kiln area under Bishramganj police station today afternoon, triggering panic among local residents.

Bishramganj (Tripura): A serious road accident in Bishramganj created panic among residents after a Bolero pickup vehicle and a Maruti Alto car collided head-on at the Dewan Bazar brick kiln area on Saturday afternoon. Four people sustained injuries in the crash, and one of them is undergoing treatment in critical condition.
The accident took place at around 12:45 pm under Bishramganj police station limits. The sudden collision caused a tense situation in the area as both vehicles suffered heavy damage.
According to eyewitnesses, both vehicles were travelling at high speed when the drivers allegedly lost control. The two vehicles crashed into each other, producing a loud impact that alerted nearby residents.
The Maruti Alto was severely damaged due to the force of the collision, while the Bolero pickup overturned on the road. The passengers inside both vehicles suffered injuries and required immediate medical assistance.
Fire and Emergency Team Rescues Injured
Soon after receiving information, personnel from the Bishramganj Fire and Emergency Services department reached the accident site. They rescued the injured persons and shifted them to the Bishramganj Primary Health Centre.
Doctors at the health centre provided initial treatment. However, as the condition of the injured persons deteriorated, all four were referred to Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital for advanced medical care.
Speaking to Enewstime correspondent, Dr Puja Deb of the Bishramganj PHC said one of the injured persons is in a critical condition.
The injured persons have been identified as:
- Krishnanath Chandra Nama (40)
- Rana Debnath (22)
- Akash Debbarma (22)
- Pradip Das (50)
According to Dr Deb, physical condition of Krishnanath Chandra Nama was critical and he was referred to GB Hospital in Agartala for further treatment. Remaining three received treatment and healthcare at the PHC.
Traffic Disrupted After Collision
The accident temporarily affected traffic movement in the Dewan Bazar area. A long queue of vehicles formed on the road following the collision.
Later, Bishramganj police reached the spot and removed the damaged vehicles from the road. The police action helped restore normal traffic movement in the area.
Police Begin Investigation Into Accident Cause
Police have started an investigation into the Bishramganj road accident to identify the exact cause of the collision. Initial reports suggest that overspeeding and lack of caution may have contributed to the crash.
Officials are examining the circumstances that led to the head-on collision.

โAccidents is nothing new in this area, so we always remain scared. Even walking by the side of the road is dangerous as any moment speeding vehicles may hit anyone. Reckless driving is the root causeโ, one Nepal Sen said this to our on-the-spot correspondent.
Sen further said, local residents have appealed multiple times to the concerned authorities. As usual, all the appeals fell in deaf ears. โAuthorities โ the local administration or traffic department- took no effective steps, so far. They must step in ensuring to prevent such accidents due to the errant driversโ, Sen opined.
Local people demanded stricter speed control measures, regular police monitoring, and improved road safety arrangements. They said effective preventive steps could reduce accidents and protect commuters in the future.
