November 02, 2017 A motor cycle rally of Assam Riffles jawans today arrived in Agartala from Bangladesh through Akhaura Indo-Bangla Border. Embarked on a mission to enhance brotherhood with neighbouring Bangladesh and Myanmar, the rally was flagged off on Monday. The Governor of Meghalaya, Ganga Prasad flagged off the rally in Meghalaya. The Tri Nation Motorcycle Expedition reached Sylhet Bangladesh on Tuesday. Later motor cyclists drove off from BGB Sector HQ Sylhet for Sreemangal. The Expedition Team was received by Col Ashraf, BGB Sector Commander at Sreemangal. Lt Gen Shokin Chauhan AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, DGAR was at location to greet the team.
He interacted with GOC 17 Infantry Division, Bangladesh Army in Sylhet and subsequently moved to Sreemangal where he along with the Expedition Team interacted with the Mukti Joddhas who had participated in the Bangladesh War of Liberation. BGB hosted lunch in honour of the Mukti Joddhas, DGAR and the Assam Rifles Expedition Team, post which the DGAR laid wreath at Bodhavumi 1971 memorial and felicitated the Mukti Joddhas.
The rally will set off for Dharmanagar tomorrow and later enter into Myanmar via Silchar. During this expedition, AR jawans will spread message of peace aiming to bolster brotherhood among the Tri-nation and it will cover 2100 KM long route. (Courtesy: Tripura Times)
