The National Health Mission United Forum Tripura (NHMUFT) on Thursday stepped up its efforts to highlight the demands of NHM employees across the state by submitting a 15-point charter to health authorities in all eight districts.

The North Tripura district committee submitted the demands to the Chief Medical Officer of North Tripura as part of a pre-announced state-wide programme. Representatives of the forum said the initiative aims to place the various demands and problems faced by NHM employees before the concerned authorities.

The forum’s North Tripura district president and secretary, state committee representatives and representatives of NHM employees from different sections attended the deputation programme.

Demands Raised Across Eight Districts

The North Tripura programme formed part of a wider state-level initiative by the NHM United Forum. According to the forum, its representatives submitted the same charter of demands to the Chief Medical Officers of all eight districts on October 1.

The organisation said it planned the deputations to draw the health authorities’ attention to the different demands and issues affecting NHM employees.

The forum has raised several demands concerning the employment conditions and benefits of NHM workers. These include regularisation of Tripura’s NHM employees on the lines of Manipur, an increase in the service age to 65 years and payment of festival advance.

The forum also demanded equal pay for equal work and Provident Fund facilities for all NHM employees.

Insurance coverage and Child Care Leave also formed part of the demands presented to the health authorities.
