Retail inflation rises to 5.41pc in November

Retail inflation increased to 5.41 percent in November, as prices of vegetables, pulses and fruits increased.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) based retail inflation in October was 5 percent. In November previous year, it was at 3.27 percent.
According to government data, overall, consumer food inflation increased to 6.07 per cent in November.
Retail inflation in pulses and products category increased to 46.08 percent during the month. The rate of price rise in vegetables almost doubled to 4 percent in November, while that for cereals and products category it stood at 1.70 percent.
Seasonal fruits was costlier in November with inflation at 2.07 percent.
Inflation in meat and fish category was 5.34 percent and that for non-alcoholic beverages it stood at 4.55 percent.
The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation has risen to minus (-)1.99% for the month of November from minus (-)3.81 per cent in October.
This is the 13th month in a row when the wholesale inflation has remained in the negative territory.
According to latest release by Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Food inflation shot up to 5.20 per cent in November, as against 2.44 per cent in October.
Inflation in pulses and onion stood at 58 per cent and 53 per cent, respectively. The rate of price rise in case of vegetables was 14 per cent during November.
