September 07, 2018: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first Global Mobility Summit – MOVE in New Delhi. The main focus of the two-day summit, which is being organised by the NITI Aayog, is to make Indian cities pollution free.
Speaking on the occasion the Prime Minister said that India is on the move, its economy is on the move. Our cities are on the move, infrastructure too is on the move. He added that India is the fastest emerging start up hub of the world; mobility has been key to the progress of humanity; world is now in the middle of new mobility revolution; mobility is a key driver of economy.
Addressing the summit, CEO Tata Motors, Guenter Butschk said India is a rising star in world economy. He expressed gratitude to NITI Aayog for organising summit. Chairman of Toyota, Takeshi Uchiyamada stressed on the need for hybrid vehicles for lowering carbon emissions. CEO of ABB, Ulrich Spiesshofer lauded Indian government’s efforts towards e-mobility.
The summit also to deliberate on five themes electrification and alternative fuels, reinventing public transport, goods transport and logistics, data analytics and mobility. More than 2,200 participants from across the world including leaders from the government, industry, research organizations, academia, think tanks and civil society will attend the event.
Deliberations will he held on steps to promote more and more usage of electric vehicles and to bring awareness about various aspects of Mobility.
In his introductory remarks, NITI Aayog Vice Chairman, Dr Rajeev Kumar said, India will play key role in shaping global mobility.
Chung Euisin, Vice President Hyundai, Mahindra Group honcho Anand Mahindra, Suzuki chairman Osamu Suzuki are among the many CEOs are participating in the summit. (AIR News)
