December 22, 2018: An officer with so many central and state sponsored schemes under his authority can, indeed, spring a miracle- and well, make a lot difference for the poor and the neglected- only if he or she so wishes- like the way BDO , Mohanbhog (under Sepahijala district in Tripura) did .
In fact, the BDO of Mohanbhog had become virtually the god for an eight-member family by implementing various government-sponsored schemes within a short period.
The family virtually found new meaning of life after the BDO Mohanbhog Narayan Majumder helped the family get facilities of various government schemes.
The BDO in association with Sonamura sub-divisional administration actually set an example with a view that ‘if there is will’, in true sense, to assist the needy section of people through government-sponsored schemes, there are several ways’.
According to sources, the way the eight-member family of Mangal Debbarma, resident of Urmai Dasharathbari, was leading the life was just ‘miserable’.
There was only one room in the house. That was too unfit for dwelling. Besides, there was facility like electricity connection and sanitary toilet in the house.
But the entire situation has changed to a large extent after the miserable condition of the family came to notice of the BDO Mohanbhog a few days ago.
The BDO didn’t waste a single minute — he took effective initiatives and extended various facilities of several centrally-sponsored schemes to the needy family within a short period.
The family was given a tin-roof house under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awaas Yojana, sanitary toilet under Swachha Bharat Mission, electricity connection under Soubhagya Yojana, life insurance under Jivan Jyoti scheme, LED light and LPG connection under Ujjwala Yojana, and health insurance facility under Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
Besides, the family was provided with financial assistance for piggery from Block’s fund and assurance of 95 mandays work under MGNREGA.
The family also received ST certificate, BPL ration card and Aadhar card. Now, a process is underway for providing marriage registration certificate to Mangal Debbarma and birth certificates to his children.
While expressing his happiness over the role of BDO Mohanbhog, the beneficiary Mangal Debbarma said, “Each block of the state should have a BDO like Narayan Majumder so that facilities of government schemes reach the actual beneficiaries.
The initiative made by the BDO and Sonamura sub-divisional administration was reflection of the pro-people planning of the state government.” (Courtesy: Tripura Times)
