Agartala, January 22, 2019: The Assam Police on Monday night arrested at least 30 Rohingya of seven families, including 12 children from Churaibari village near the Tripura border. It is learnt, these Rohingya arrived in Tripura by train around four months ago. They were arrested while moving to Guwahati North Tripura District Police chief Bhanupada Chakraborty said, “The Assam police have arrested 30 Rohingya Muslims from a Guwahati-bound bus at Churaibari along the inter-state border on Monday night.” The group, with nine women, had boarded from Agartala.
Meanwhile, a group of 31 Rohingya Muslims, including 16 children, who remained stuck near the India-Bangladesh border in Western Tripura after both countries refused to accept them – were detained by BSF and later Police arrested those. Medical tests were conducted and they would be produced at Court today, OC Amtali PS Pranab Sengupta said.
