The tableau of Tripura passes through the Rajpath during the full dress rehearsal for the Republic Day Parade-2016, in New Delhi on January 23, 2016. Tripura’s tableau depicting beautiful Unakoti sculptures, seen in a Shiva pilgrimage site was adjudged the second best tableau while West Bengal bagged 1st position. third position has gone in favour of Assam tableau showcasing the popular Rongali Bihu festival. This year a special prize has been awarded to the tableau of Ministry of Communication and Information Technology on the theme ‘Digital India’. Notably 23 tableau took part in R-day 2016.
The results of different competitive presentations in the Republic Day Parade have been announced by the Ministry of Defence. Assam Regiment and the Border Security Force have been adjudged the best marching contingents while West Bengal won the first prize in the tableau category. Among the Services category, Assam Regiment has been adjudged the best marching contingent. In the category of Para-Military Forces and other auxiliary marching contingents, Border Security Force contingent has been adjudged the best contingent.
