The Union MoS for Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ram Kripal Yadav applauded efforts of the Tripura Govt in achieving success in implementing developmental schemes. Appreciating remarkable achievement of Tripura in literacy, Yadav said in Agartala on Jan 29 that Development was bound to happen in Tripura with such high literacy rate. He also extolled State Govt for providing drinking water facilities in villages. He also hailed role of the State Govt in ending open defecation. Referring to Swach Bharat Mission initiated by PM Narendra Modi in 2014, Yadav exuded confidence that Tripura and Manipur will be able to achieve 100% success in ending open defecation.

Notably, Yadav arrived at Agartala, capital of Tripura on Jan 28 in a two-day State visit. He visited State-level Water Testing lab in Agartala on Jan 28. On the same day, he also held a review meeting with Tripura and Manipur officials. Yadav inspected a water treatment plant located at tribal area, Killa under Gomati district.
Having said that development of North East is in top priority of PM Modi, he commented it is the dream of the Prime Minister to improve the livelihood of the people of North East and that is why Union ministers are regularly visiting the North Eastern States. Talking about abundance of forests and natural resources, Yadav said there is huge potentiality for Organic Farming in the North Eastern States. He urged the State Govts of NE States to utilize bountiful natural resources in attracting tourists and develop tourism industry in States to generate employment opportunities and eradicate Poverty.
Commenting on Central assistance, he informed, Central Assistance has been enhanced by 10% under the Drinking water and Sanitation schemes from 32% to 42%. He said, apart from enhancement in Central Assistance, all the state Government will get a good share from Rs. 40,000 crore which will be given directly to the Panchayats all over India. He also said, there is no question of reduction of fund under central assistance to any of the States.
