Agartala, July 08, 2019: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today expressed his utter dismay at the apathety of civic bodies in cleaning the city’s garbage. Taking a strong exception at prevailing pathetic situation in heart of the city, Biplab Kumar Deb strictly directed the officials to work 15 days in field to ensure cleaner city and to work in office in rest of the working days.
Speaking to the media persons this morning after inspecting large portion of Banamalipur – his own constituency – the Chief Minister said, the government is trying sincerely to keep the city clean. But, the way Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has performed so far seemed no difference from as it was during the Left rule.
It may be noted here that AMC is being controlled by CPIM.
I feel, the Chief Minister added, none of the elected representatives have ever visited the area that falls under their jurisdiction. Even, the sector officers and zonal officers are also doing the same. Thus the situation turned so pathetic in many of the areas that most of drainages get blocked, garbage stockpiled and passively contributing in pollution, health hazards and massive traffic congestion in the office hours, he observed.
Standing amid unbearable stink, He told the media that this government needed no one who would not work according to the vision of model state. “I will direct everyone in the respective offices to direct everyone that those who were not willing to work could have stayed at home. They were no more needed in the place they work,” the Chief Minister warned.
Criticizing the incessant plying garbage carriers in office hours, he said, according to guidelines, garbage carriers should be plying in a particular point of time—from the wee hours to before nine to ten in the morning. But, here we see, such vehicles are running ceaselessly at any point of time – with unhygienic stinct – posing serious traffic problems during office and break-in hours. We will not tolerate such careless activities, the Chief Minister claimed.
Notably, the Chief Minister today started his journey from Maharaj Ganja Bazar and travelled all throughout the market. In the course of his walk with higher officials including special secretary Kiran Gitte, he directed the officials to take all the necessary measures immediately.
