Agartala, July 28, 2019: Miscreants thrashed a woman belonging to minority community allegedly for supporting BJP in three-tier Panchayat Polls in Tripura held on July 27 last. The incidence took place at Jheri Jheri Village under Kadamtala in North Tripura district.
The area is a minority dominated area and considered to be CPIM stronghold. However, with growing expansion of BJP in minority dominated areas, both CPIM and Congress activists served diktat asking minority people not vote for BJP candidate in Panchayat Poll.
Defying the diktat, family members of Manirujjaman – a BJP supporter ventured out to cast vote. Irked at this, goons allegedly backed by CPIM and Congress, beat Manir’s wife mercilessly. Injured woman was taken to hospital and FIR was filed.
