Agartala, August 28, 2019: Tripura youth, Farukh Ahmed – a Baker by profession – won Medallion of Excellence in global skill contest held in Kazan, Russia. Farukh hails from Tripura and underwent trainings at Lavonne Academy of Baking and Pastry Arts in Bangalore to bake the products he had always imagined. He was selected for the World Skill International Competition which was held between August 22 and 27.

The Competition is a flagship event of the WorldSkills International and is being organised every two years. It is the biggest vocational education and skills excellence event. From India total 48 members including Faruk participated in the Competition.
More than 1350 competitors from 63 countries had participated in 56 skills and trades. The Team India finished 13th out of 63 countries participated in the global competition.
Among other Indians, S Aswatha Narayana of Odisha secured Gold Medal in Water Technology and Pranav Nutalapati represented Karnataka and won Silver Medal.
Apart from this, Sanjoy Pramanik from West Bengal bagged Bronze Medal in Jewellery and Shweta Ratanpura of Maharashtra also won a Bronze medal in Graphics Designing.
