Agartala, February 01, 2020: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma hailed the Union Budget 2020-21 and exuded confidence that Budget proposals would successfully help the economy to achieve higher growth rates through welfare of farmers and other sections of the society.
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb called the Union Budget ‘pro-people’. pro-people. Reacting on Budget proposals, Deb said, Budget would fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of New India. Deputy Chief Minister who is also the State Finance Minister, Jishnu Dev Varma hailed the Union and called it ‘unique’.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said, Budget announcements focused on progress of farmers, poor section of people, rural parts and women. At the same time, emphasis has been given to strengthen Education, Agriculture, Healthcare, Industry and Infrastructure sectors for the overall development, Deb exuded confidence that the central budget would help increase employment and increase the income of the common people apart from dealing with the slowdown. The budgetary measures, the Chief Minister said, would ensure doubling of farmers’ income by 2022 and develop primary infrastructure apart from increasing employment opportunities.
The budget has laid special attention to northeast India– Kisan Udan and Kisan Rail schemes would be helpful in marketing of the domestic and international products to farmers of North East including Tripura, Deb said.
In order to strengthen the rural economy, the budget proposes to distribute solar pumps among two lakh farmers of the country through Prime Minister Kusum Yojana in 100 districts across the country – it would be beneficial for a large section of farmers in Tripura, Deb added. The budget would help strengthen the healthcare in Dhalai, state’s most Aspirational district. Besides, the priority has been given on Tourism sector which would create employment opportunities in the North East, the Chief Minister said.

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma also pointed out that Union Budget accorded priority in Agriculture sector, in which large chunk of people are engaged by allocating Rs. 2.83 lakh crore for the 2020-21 FY while laying emphasis on integrated farming and pisciculture.”
Dev Varma also praised Union Finance Minister Sitharaman for giving a boost to the MSMEs. “NPA restructuring deadline of MSME has been extended for another year. Around 1 lakh MSME will be benefited from the sop”, he said. He lauded the Union Finance Minister’s proposal to establish a well-equipped hospital in all the aspirational blocks across the country. In Tripura, Dhalai district has been declared as aspirational block. He also hailed the proposals like Krishi Rail and Krishi Udaan and said, these will be beneficial for the Northeastern states to transport raw materials”.
