Centre will build 2 crore 95 lakh rural house in the country in the next six years. Talking to media persons in Guwahati, Union Rural Development minister Choudhury Birendra Singh said that his ministry has decided to almost double the allocation of fund to beneficiaries under Indira Awas Yojna. He said, Centre will now provide almost 1 lakh 50 thousand rupees to a beneficiary. Earlier it used to be 75 thousand rupees. Union Minister also said loan facility will also be given to beneficiaries if required.
Mr. Singh said, 18 lakh labourers under MGNREGA will be provided skill development training by his ministry in the next two years. He hoped that this step will help the rural population of the North East along with rest of the country. He assured that there will be no dearth of funds for Assam for development works. Mr. Singh, however, expressed displeasure over the fact that Assam government is unable to utilize 1,309 crore rupees under Indira Awas Yojna. He said, the progress of rural road constructions in Assam is not satisfactory.
