The council of ministers of Tripura has decided to declare twenty schools of the state as Specified Category Schools. Also, the state government has taken some important decisions including the promotion of students of various classes to the next higher classes.
Education minister Ratanlal Nath has announced the cabinet decision at a press conference on Tuesday.
As per the decision, the twenty schools are- Shishu Bihar HS School, Umakanta Academy English Medium, Henry Derozio Academy HS School, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar English Medium School, Khumpui Academy English Medium HS School, Khumulwng, Sukanta Academy English Medium School, Jirania, Bishalgarh English Medium HS School, Sonamura English Medium HS School, Udaipur Govt English Medium HS School, Amarpur, Govt English Medium HS School, Belonia Govt English Medium HS School, Sabrooom Govt English Medium HS School, Teliamura Govt English Medium HS School, Khowai Govt English Medium HS School, Kamalpur Govt English Medium HS School, Chailengta Govt English Medium HS School, Netaji Vidyapith English Medium HS School- Kailashahar, Darchawi Christian English Medium HS School- Kumarghat, Golden Valley English Medium HS School- Dharmanagar and Kanchanpur Govt English Medium HS School.
The students from any part of the state, as per the decision, would have the opportunity to study in the schools, Nath told the media. In the twenty schools, the curriculum is being conducted as per CBSE norms at present.
The schools would have subject teachers for every subject, laboratories, libraries and sports ground. Every class would have maximum 40 students. In case of appointment of Headmaster/ Headmistress for these schools, the state government would conduct a special selection test, Nath added.
On another note, the Education Minister the state government has taken some important decisions including promotion of students of various classes to next higher classes.
Briefing media about the major decisions, Education minister Ratanlal Nath has said the students of Class I, II, III, IV, VI and VII would be promoted to the next higher classes without examinations.
“When the schools reopen, the students will have to appear in examinations of their respective classes that is of their previous classes for evaluation of learning levels,” he said, adding that distribution of school books had already started.
“As central guidelines on no-detention policy are applicable in case of the students of Class- V and VIII, it will be discussed in the cabinet. Besides, the decision on the examinations of Class- IX and XI will be taken in consultation with the Tripura Board of Secondary Education,” Nath told the media.
On the other hand, the summer vacation for the school students has been extended till June 7 next, considering the present COVID19 situation, Nath said.
