Tripura HC directs Home to formulate police advisory
The Tripura High Court recently directed the secretary of state home department to call for a high level meeting with all the Superintendents of Police of the Districts, Inspector General (Law and Order) and the Director General of Police and formulate an advisory in terms of the directions of the Supreme Court’s order of Lalita Kumari (supra) case.
The direction came up under the single bench of Justice S Talapatra over the writ petition filed by one Subhash Pal, a resident of Udaipur, who according to the petition came under attack of miscreants on March 1 this year and was left injured.
The incident took place after some miscreants attacked Subhash Pal and damaged his rubber garden and soon after he went to the Madhupur police station to lodge an FIR, but the police refused to register the case and failed to supply the receipt copy of the FIR to the petitioner Subhash Pal, said senior advocate Purushottam Ray Barman.
Barman said that in response to the petition the High Court had directed the secretary of the state home department to constitute an advisory and ensure that it is implemented in all police stations. The HC further directed to issue such advisory within a period of six weeks from the day when the petitioner shall furnish a copy of this order.
The HC also directed the officers-in charge of the police station to supply a copy of the FIR, free of cost and forthwith without any failure.
In a series of cases since 2015, the HC court has been observing, keeping high hopes that the superior authorities of the police would heed and take a correctional course unfortunately this has not happened so far, Barman said.
