Incessant rains have hit everyday life in different parts of Tripura. One child was reported to be drowned in the Howrah River at Jirania in West Tripura. In a separate incident, at least two people were injured after a tree fell on a car along the Assam-Agartala NH at Barmura Eco Park area under Teliamura on Sunday. This resulted in the closure of the NH for one-and-half hours. In Amarpur, a massive landslide along the Amarpur-Gandachhera Road stalled traffic movement for almost four hours.

According to an official report, a seven-year-old child drowned in the Howrah River at Assam Para under Ranirbazar on Sunday.

Almost uninterrupted rainfall for the last few days loosened the soil in the hill areas and trees were often falling on the Assam-Agartala Road. On Sunday, one Teliamura-bound vehicle was hit by a falling tree at the Barmura Eco Park area. According to an official report two persons were wounded in the incident. Later, Firemen rescued them and took them to Teliamura Hospital.

Meantime, heavy rains have affected normal life in Amarpur as well. Landslips were reported from Sukumar Colony and Town Sankar Palli under Amarpur Nagar Panchayat.  Vehicular movements came to a grinding halt after a massive landslide along Amarpur-Gandachhera main road at Babusai TSR camp area today. For four hours, vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road. The PWD officials and personnel rushed to the spot and cleared the road. Around 6pm, vehicle movement became normal.

Speaking SDM of Amarpur Bijoy Sinha told the media that the water level in Gomati River was increasing. The administration is keeping a close watch and ready to combat any situation. In case of emergency, people may contact the SDM office for assistance.
