Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Ajay Mishra Teni, visited the revered Mata Tripureswari Temple in Udaipur under the Gomati District of Tripura on Saturday. He also inquired about the progress of work under the PRASAD Scheme.
The minister’s visit was marked by a series of significant engagements, including a religious ceremony and an inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects in the temple.
Upon his arrival, Ajay Mishra Teni took part in a solemn puja (prayer ritual) at the Mata Tripureswari Temple, seeking blessings and paying homage to the deity.
During his visit, he also inquired about the progress of the infrastructure development work being carried out at Matabari, a project operating under the ambit of the Central Government’s Prasad scheme.
Coinciding with the minister’s visit was the purification of the water of the Temple’s Kalyan Sagar Lake. The sanctity of the lake was affected when a human skull was found floating on its lake’s surface approximately one-and-a-half months ago. In response, the temple’s priests had decreed a 45-day restriction on the usage of the water. The culmination of this period saw a special purification ceremony presided over by 30 priests on Saturday.
The purification process consisted of a series of rituals, including the Ganga Puja, aimed at restoring the sanctity of the lake water. Prior to this, a puja was conducted along the banks of the Gomati River, from which water was collected in 108 ceremonial pitchers.
This water was subsequently carried to the Kalyan Sagar Lake and poured in, symbolizing the restoration of purity to the water body. The opening of the lake brought cheers among the devotees.
