After an incident where approximately 15 girl students fell ill at a school, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha ordered the termination of the hostel’s warden and caretaker. Furthermore, a show cause notice was issued to the Maharaja Bir Bikram Welfare Society, which manages the hostel.
Dr. Saha, who is also the state’s Education Minister, requested a report following the incident where the girl students fell ill at school on Thursday.
15 girl students experienced severe stomach aches after consuming a meal at their hostel, Maharaja Bir Bikram Welfare Society in Agartala on Thursday.
The students became ill after arriving at school and entering their classrooms following the morning prayer.
They were quickly taken to GB Pant Hospital, and Dr. Saha, in his capacity as Education Minister, promptly went to the hospital to oversee their care.
Speaking with reporters later, Dr. Saha said, “Around 15 girl students came here after suddenly feeling uneasy and experiencing stomach aches during prayer at Bodhjung Girls School. They were rushed to the hospital immediately. When I received the information, I directed the doctors to take all necessary measures. The incident is probably a case of food poisoning. I have directed the officials to submit a report to me on the issue. All the students are stable now, and there is nothing to worry about. I have asked the doctors to provide the best possible care.”
Under Dr. Saha’s instruction, a show cause notice was issued to the Maharaja Bir Bikram Welfare Society hostel, and the warden and caretaker were terminated.
