The 78th Independence Day was celebrated with immense fervor and grandeur across Tripura, echoing the patriotic spirit that swept through the entire nation.

The main government ceremony took place at the Assam Rifles Ground in Agartala, where Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha led the celebrations by hoisting the national flag and receiving the guard of honor from the security forces.

Apart from the Government organized programmes, political parties, educational institutions, business houses and individuals in Tripura too observed the I-Day with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm. Voluntary organisations, clubs and some organisations also organised cultural activities, blood donation camps and fruit distribution initiatives.

Awards, medals, and certificates were presented to individuals across various categories, acknowledging their dedication and service in their respective fields.

In his I-Day address to the gathering, Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the state government’s unrelenting commitment to driving forward the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He outlined the government’s ambitious plans to transform Tripura into a beacon of development and prosperity.

“Our government is dedicated to ensuring comprehensive progress in areas such as tribal welfare, education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, agriculture, industry, and infrastructure,” he asserted, highlighting the initiatives being made to uplift every sector of society.

The day’s celebrations commenced with Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath hoisting the national flag at the State Secretariat. He inspected the parade of security forces and accepted the guard of honor.

The Minister underscored the importance of vigilance and patriotism in his speech, urging citizens to safeguard the nation’s independence.

“It is our solemn duty to protect our country, even at the cost of our lives,” he said. He also called on the people to work towards realizing the vision of a developed and self-reliant India by the year 2047.

The Independence Day spirit was observed at the state Congress headquarters, where MLA Sudip Roy Barman hoisted the national flag, followed by state Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha raising the party flag.

“Today, we honor the memory of our freedom fighters, whose sacrifices have paved the way for the democratic federal state we cherish today,” Chaudhary remarked, urging collective effort to achieve the nation’s goals.

Across Tripura, different defence agencies also observed the Day spreading the light of patriotism.

The evening of the I-Day is filled with different sorts of programs reflecting the joyous mood of the celebration, and highlighting a renewed commitment to the ideals that have shaped the state’s journey thus far.

Amidst jubilation, a group of veterans enjoying time over a cup of tea said, the spirit of freedom must be matched by a dedication to development and unity as India strides towards a brighter tomorrow.
