ProMASS: Dec 1, 2016: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today greeted Nagaland on its 53rd statehood day. He in a tweet, said Nagaland is known for its scenic beauty and talented citizens. He wished people of the state will take it to new heights of progress.

It was on this day in 1963 that the Nagaland attained statehood as the 16th state of the Indian Union and second in North East after being bifurcated from Assam.
