Agartala April 30: In an extraordinary tale of resilience and determination, Romio Hrangkhawl, has proven that disability is not an inability with his toe-writing. Romio, a differently-abled student from Kamalachhara village in Ambassa subdivision of Dhalai district in Tripura, has passed the Madhyamik (Class 10) examination conducted by the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE).
Born with a locomotor disability that rendered both his hands non-functional, coupled with skeletal issues and challenges in speaking clearly, Romio defied all odds by mastering the art of writing with his feet from a young age. His success in Madhyamik with his toe-writing has not only earned him widespread admiration but also the praise of Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who hailed him as a source of inspiration for overcoming adversity.
Romio, a student of Kamalachhara High School, faced challenges that would have deterred many. Yet, his indomitable spirit and relentless dedication propelled him to compete alongside regular students and emerge victorious in the TBSE conducted Madhyamik examination.
Supported by his father, who ensured he could attend school, Romio maintained a disciplined study routine at home. The unwavering encouragement from his parents and teachers played a pivotal role in his journey, providing the emotional and academic scaffolding he needed to succeed.

Expressing immense pride, Romio’s father shared, “Despite his non-functional hands, he has always been passionate about his studies. I am overjoyed by his success, and his goal now is to pursue higher education.” Romio’s triumph has resonated deeply with his community, with local residents and school authorities describing it as an “inspiring example” of perseverance.
The school’s headmistress, Anjana Chakma, beamed with pride, stating, “Romio is our pride. His achievement will inspire countless others to push beyond their limitations.” School inspector Bishnu Dutta echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the broader societal impact: “Romio’s success is not just a personal milestone; it’s a powerful lesson for society—that disability is not a barrier but an opportunity to fight harder and shine brighter.”
