ProMASS: Jan 14, 2017: Former Punjab Chief Minister Surjit Singh Barnala, died at Chandigarh today on January 13) at the age of 91. Barnala served as Chief Minister from 1985 to 1987. He was admitted to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) at Chandigarh on Thursday and was shifted this morning to respiratory ICU where he breathed his last. He is survived by his wife Surjit Kaur and two sons Jasjit and Gaganjit.
In his condolence message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, Pained by demise of Shri Surjit Singh Barnala. His rich service & contribution to the nation will be remembered. Condolences to his family.
